With reference to your despatch No.20 of 18th
January, 1922, and previous correspondence regarding the
note issue of the Mercantile Bank of India, Limited, I have
the honour to enclose for your consideration copies of a
draft bill to extend for a further period the powers granted
by the Mercantile Bank Note Issue Ordinance, 1911, to the
Mercantile Bank of India, Limited, to make, issue, re-issue
and circulate notes in the Colony.
I shall be glad to have a reply by telegraph
informing me whether you approve of the introduction of the
bill as drafted.
